Hublot released an $5,400 smartwatch with Wear OS 3, but with an outdated processor

Introducing the latest addition to the world of ultra-premium smartwatches: the Hublot Big Bang E Gen 3. Priced at $5,400, this exquisite timepiece boasts the advanced Wear OS 3 platform, although it is equipped with a processor that may be considered outdated.

Continuing the legacy of the original Hublot Big Bang E series, which made its debut in 2020, the Gen 3 model showcases a revamped and sophisticated design. Available in elegant “Black Magic” and pristine “White Ceramic” variants, it exudes a timeless charm and style.

The Gen 3 model features a 44mm casing constructed using a combination of “microblasted and polished ceramic,” resulting in a distinctive textured appearance. Hublot specifically selected ceramic for its exceptional durability and ability to withstand the test of time. While it offers 3ATM water resistance, it’s worth noting that this is slightly lower compared to many other modern smartwatches. Additionally, the display is protected by a sapphire crystal, ensuring enhanced scratch resistance.

The strap is crafted from rubber but can be effortlessly replaced using a proprietary connector equipped with a quick-switch button. Hublot showcases various band colors in a video on its website; however, they are not yet available for purchase. Considering the brand’s reputation, it is likely that these bands, once released, will come with a premium price tag in line with Hublot’s other offerings.

The Hublot Big Bang E Gen 3 marks a significant milestone as it becomes the brand’s inaugural smartwatch to feature Wear OS 3. This latest operating system introduces a host of fresh functionalities, an array of new watch faces, and a new companion app for seamless smartwatch pairing. However, it’s worth mentioning that the watch continues to operate on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset, which is considered outdated compared to the newer W5+ chipset featured in the TicWatch Pro 5.
