Galaxy Watch 7: Now Kid-Friendly

Samsung and Google have partnered to transform the Galaxy Watch 7 LTE into a robust and secure smartwatch experience for kids. This new “Galaxy Watch for Kids” mode empowers parents with extensive control over their child’s smartwatch usage.

During initial setup, parents can configure the Galaxy Watch 7 LTE to function as a standalone device specifically designed for children. This involves creating a restricted Google account for the child, enabling them to make calls and send messages only to approved contacts. Utilizing the powerful Google Family Link app, parents gain granular control over app access, allowing them to approve or block applications on the watch. Furthermore, parents can implement a “School Time” feature, effectively disabling distracting apps and features during designated school hours.

The Galaxy Watch for Kids experience goes beyond basic parental controls. It boasts a curated selection of “Teacher Approved” apps and watch faces, carefully chosen for their educational value. These engaging apps cover a wide range of subjects, including math, science, history, music, creativity, and physical activity. Children can explore interactive learning experiences, such as a virtual Rubik’s Cube, a Marvel-themed dance app, and educational content from PBS Kids.

Beyond education, the Galaxy Watch for Kids integrates seamlessly with the Samsung Health platform. This allows children to track their daily activities, including steps, sleep, and workouts, while encouraging healthy habits. Parents can actively participate in their child’s wellness journey by reviewing and discussing their health data together.

This exciting new feature is initially available in the U.S. on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon networks. To encourage adoption, Samsung is offering a complimentary kids-themed band with the purchase of a Galaxy Watch 7 LTE from Samsung.com.
