Previously, Fossil appeared to be more dedicated to Wear OS smartwatches than either Google or Samsung. However, the company has now confirmed its exit from the smartwatch market, ceasing production of any new models.
According to Fossil spokesperson Amanda Castelli speaking to The Verge, this decision was strategic and driven by the significant evolution of the smartwatch landscape. Resources will now be reallocated to focus on the “core segments” of Fossil’s business.
This move doesn’t come as a huge surprise, considering the last Fossil smartwatch, the Fossil Gen 6, was released in September 2021, and there have been no indications of a Gen 6 successor since then.
Castelli stated that existing Fossil smartwatches will continue to receive support “for the next few years.” Therefore, if you currently own one of these wearables, you can expect to receive updates for the foreseeable future.
