At today’s major event, Huawei announced its latest premium smartphones and a flagship wearable, the Huawei Watch Ultimate. Positioned above the GT 3 Pro, this new device boasts a more robust build and is now able to withstand submersion up to 100 meters, making it suitable for professional divers.
The Watch Ultimate features a large 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED circular display with a refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 60Hz. It also has a big shell that houses a sizable 530mAh battery, offering up to 14 days of battery life on a single charge for regular users, and around 8 days for active users.
The wearable is equipped with the usual sensors for heart rate, blood oxygen, and ECG measurements, and supports Qi wireless charging. The included charger can charge the device from 0 to 100% in just 60 minutes.
The Huawei Watch Ultimate’s body incorporates 16 water-resistant structures, allowing it to withstand extreme deep-sea pressure. To ensure its water-resistance, Huawei subjected the device to rigorous tests under the ISO 22810 water resistance standard and EN13319 device equipment standard, which confirmed that it can withstand submersion at a depth of up to 110 meters or 10 ATM for 24 hours.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the Watch Ultimate includes an Expedition Mode, which utilizes dual-frequency five-system GNSS positioning capabilities to provide accurate mapping even in remote areas. Users can set waypoints and track their blood oxygen levels, which is particularly important at high altitudes.
The casing of the Huawei Watch Ultimate is made from zirconium-based liquid metal, while one of its straps is composed of a new type of hydrogenated nitrile rubber. The device’s bezel is crafted from ceramic, and its display is protected by sapphire glass.
From April 3, the Huawei Watch Ultimate will be available in the United Kingdom and Europe in two variants: Expedition Black (with a rubber strap) or Voyage Blue (with an elegant metallic strap). In China, the device is priced at CNY5,999 ($880/€800/£710) and CNY6,999 ($1,025/€940/£830), with global pricing to be announced at a later date.
